Goodbye, Dear Leader… Hello, Headdesk?
Dear Leader is dead. Thank you, Jesus. Maybe that is insensitive to the ‘much’ aggrieved people of North Korea. Try again…
Dear Leader has met an untimely fate (no one will ever know the cause) and the country is in deep mourning propaganda-produced-gnashing-of-teeth on the street.
I tried…
I mean, you can’t blame the people – they live in fear, after all. The media is forced to propagate falsehood — and that is just the mildly weird, but amusing stuff. More importantly, most scholars agree that North Korea has decided not only to ignore human rights altogether, but that they have never really adopted any form of acknowledgement in their recordable history that humans have rights in the first place. Visual?
Dear Leader’s palace:
Don’t worry, we may never know what killed Dear Leader, but we will know how he handled his booze and women according to his former chef… (these guys always come out of the woodwork when boss-man dies).
The poor in North Korea:
North Korea stopped accepting World Food Bank food stuffs, provided by the United States government in 2009. You know, that ‘awful’ United States that wants to sanction rogue regimes that threaten to nuke us while performing military exercises, yet still sends food to the oppressed people of said rogue regimes? Yes, *THAT* United States. Since then, the North Koreans likely have been suffering. However, there is no reliable data (CIA data gives little insight) because of the media control and strict government oversight of all disseminated information.
North Korea finally became a mainstream object of worldwide scrutiny after George W. Bush included the regime in his infamous ‘Axis of Evil’ speech, following the tragic events of 9.11. Immediately, the Left pounced on the opportunity to marginalize Bush as an ‘idiot’ and a purveyor of diplomatic failure for simply stating then what now has revealed itself to be an undeniable truth. In reality, George W. Bush utilized his position to shed a glaring light on the isolationist practices of a very violent and unfriendly regime. I’d say ‘W’ will live to see his warnings as timely and helpful to the framing of issues, and ultimately, measured successes, in dealing with this rogue nation.
But who am I to say? I’m no foreign policy guru. I’m a Mom from Missouri. I just finished my Christmas shopping, stopped at the store for the third time in two days, made dinner, cleaned the dishes, and (miraculously) pacified three kids by offering them a dozen sugar cookies before I read to them about sugarplums dancing in their heads – all to write this post about some insane political regime across the globe… for you.
Well, we all know I’m crazy dedicated to my craft, so stick with me here…
Lunatics in North Korea affect you. They do. They affect your children. They affect the life you wish to lead, and certainly the life you hope that your children will someday lead. I don’t need to be a foreign policy guru to figure this out. Let me pop off a little WORD ART to show you around:
Here’s the problem, people – you aren’t telling the folks in Washington what you WANT because you aren’t paying enough attention! Meanwhile, they go about having the WRONG kind of discussion… the kind where crazy mad men conduct lunacy with gridlock, marking a constant struggle for political positioning. All the while, North Korea responds by shining up their nukes — with fanfare, they parade their nuclear prowess before the world stage, and the United Nations decides to reward them by placing their nation on the 2011 HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL… even whilst the World Report for 2011 was less than stellar… and by that, I mean utterly shameful. So between the back and forth of Congress, the mounting threat and the intermediaries… who do you think pays for all the uncertainty and rangling?
Here’s the problem: Kim Jong-Il’s son, Kim Jong-Un… more of the same, and certainly a road block on the road to progress on nuclear talks. Now, there is talk that he may not actually be the heir apparent. Well, folks, call me a prognosticator extraodinaire, but if this ‘favorite son’ controls the media and the minds, he controls the outcomes; and Kim Jung-Un will soon be moving into the mansion with his daddy’s whiskey and women.
So… that leaves me with this question: ‘What can we do?” Well, at Momthink.org we talk about a strong national defense. If rogue dictators have found nuclear power and will use it to play mind games with the international community, it seems like it might be a good idea to have a missile defense shield and stop playing these ridiculous games. Specifically, I want an intercepting missile that will get darn close to THEM and not US when they intercept.
Do you think Obama will keep his promise to protect us? Do you know about the START Treaty? The layers of political wrangling are what really make the simple WORD ART complicated. Start here:
